The National Best Blood Donor for the year 2010 was Mr. Edward Barnor with a total donation of 63. Mr. Barnor was born in Jamestown, Accra a suburb of Accra in the Greater Accra Region on 2nd April, 1956. He is married with two (2) lovely kids and stays with his family in Korle Gonno.

Mr. Edward Barnor, a very hard working teacher, has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (BEd).

He had his first voluntary donation in 1977 at the Accra Area Blood Centre, Korle Bu after a talk was given on blood donation at his church, Mt. Zion Methodist Church. Mr. Barnor felt so good after his donation and it developed into a habit and later became a hobby for him.

Mr. Barnor, who is an O Negative donor, has never received any blood transfusion before even though he has donated sixty three times and he is always motivated to donate when he knows his blood will be used to save someone else’s life.

He wants to entreat all Ghanaians to make it a habit to donate blood. He also wants to take this platform to encourage blood donors to continue to donate till they are 60 years
